The South Bank Parklands are located on the site of the Expo '88 which took place in Brisbane. The main attraction of them is the beach, which actually is not directly at the banks of Brisbane River - which is not clean enough to swim in it safely - but at a separate large swimming pool. There are other attractions in the Parklands, too - a small rainforest, the Arbour - a kind of hanging garden, and a regularly open market with souvenirs and gifts from many countries.
