Broome is the boomtown of the Kimberleys and is located on a small peninsula. The town has about 14'000 permanent inhabitants. With suburbs and a modern town centre, it makes quite a different impression than the other towns in the Kimberley region.
There are beaches both on the north and the south side of the peninsula. Cable Beach in the north is the larger one and fully developed, with many hotels and caravan parks in the vicinity, and stylish restaurants with an ocean view.
