The southern half of the ACT is covered by a large (105 900 hectares) national park, Namadgi National Park. You enter it through Namadgi Visitor Center which also contains a small exhibition. Namadgi consists of open hills and woodlands, and some alpine parts. Like many parks in Australia, it may be closed when the fire risk is too high.
