This is the border sign of the Northern Territory (NT), on the border to South Australia. Actually, NT is not a state, but a federally administered territory with limited self-government. Of the about 200'000 inhabitants, more than a quarter are Aboriginal Australians, who have by now extensive land rights covering more than 50% of the NT.
