Alien invaders? Well, no, the spaceship above was a movie prop in the movie "Pitch Black" (premiered in 2000) and is now owned by a local miner who has put it on display for free (last we heard), selling some low grade opal rocks to the tourists on the location near the Big Winch hill of the town. It seems the spaceship has moved around a bit in the town, as a 1999 image seems to indicate - must have been taken just after film was shot.
