Most smaller kangaroo (macropod) species are called wallabies. The wallaby above most probably is a Red-necked Wallaby, sighted near the Waldheim Cabins in the Cradle Mountain area. On two stays at the cabins, the author has seen many wallabies, possums and quolls and even stumbled upon a quite startled wombat.
