Derby is a small harbour town with about 3'000 citizens, famous for the highest tides of Australia (11.8 m). The wharf above reflects this, standing high above the water level at low tide. It is the third largest town in the Kimberley region, after Broome and Kununurra. The town also has a very helpful visitor centre.
