In the hinterland of the Whitsunday area, near the harbour town Mackay, lies Eungella National Park. The road through the Pioneer Valley leading up to the park and to the town of Eungella is steep and narrow, but it is worth it - from several lookouts, you will have a great view over the verdant valley, like above from the Pine Grove lookout in the park. A special recommendation is the campground at Eungella, directly at the valley rim with the incredible view shown on the Queensland main page.
