The Great Ocean Road is the coastal highway covering more than 260km of Victoria's ocean shore west of Melbourne. It is not the main route to the west - the A1 in the hinterland carries most of the fast traffic. Built during the Great Depression in the 1930's, its goal was to foster tourism in the region, linking some of the most scenic sights in Victoria, like the 12 Apostles (some of them shown above) or London Bridge. Take your time and plan in two or more days for it - there are many more things to see than these two!
