Henbury Craters

The Henbury Meteorite Craters are quite young - they were created about 4'700 years ago by the impact of the parts of a meteorite weighing several tonnes. The protected area can be reached from Stuart Hwy via the first 8 km of the Ernest Giles Road, which is gravel but can be driven on without a 4WD. The craters are quite eroded today, but still worth a visit.
