Hobart is a good base for many excursions. First of all, to visit Mt Wellington is a "must". But also the Derwent valley with the Tasman Bridge and the Cadbury chocolate factory is worth some time, together with the historic town of Richmond. Large parts of Tasmania's south can be reached from Hobart in a day tour, like the southern tip of the island, or the Tasman Peninsula.
