In the northwestern areas of Australia,  small stone huts such as above can be found, built by the Aborigines, who are not known to have built stone buildings otherwise.

These huts, though, were not built as housing, or even for burial purposes, but to catch birds of prey. The hunter hid in the small hut, covered by branches, and held up a branch, maybe with some feathers attached, moving it to attract a bird of prey. When the bird landed to investigate, the hunter could catch it from below.
