Eucalyptus regnans

This is the foot of one of the largest Eucalyptus regnans trees in the park. The species is quite cold-resistant, surviving up to minus 20°C. The fast growing trees can reach 65m within 50 years, and currently more than 15 trees are known which are higher than 90 m. The record-setting exemplary of 114m height has been felled in 1881, though.

Actually, the trees can be grown quite well from seeds - the Author has purchased a selection of Eucalypt seeds, and the Eucalyptus regnans ones were by far the most resilient and fastest growing of the lot. With the sizes and growth rates listed above, it may be necessary to purchase some land soon to give them space to grow...
