Mount Wellington is Hobarts Local Mountain, often referred to as "The Mountain". It rises to 1271 m above sea level, but it feels higher if you are on top of the mountain - if the weather is clear, you will have great views of Hobart and of the surrounding land and sea, but a cold wind might go through all layers of pullovers and summer jackets if you are not prepared for it. Luckily, there is a protected lookout. The rocket-like tower above is a television and radio transmission tower for southern Tasmania.
