Tweed River Valley view

The "Best Of All Lookout" actually lies exactly on the Queensland-NSW border, in Springbrook on the northern rim of the caldera of the ancient volcano. You can get there easily via the #97 from Murwillumbah, crossing into Queensland, then taking the #99 to Springbrook, or directly from the coast via the Tallebudgera Road. Several other lookouts there have great views also on the Gold Coast.

Above the view to the east along the escarpment, with the Pacific and the coastal tourist towns, like Tweed Head. The footpath leading to the lookout goes through a Southern Beech forest - these trees belong to an ancient  Gondwanaland species, found only in Australia and South America.
