Between Bermagui and Merimbulah, Highway 1 leaves the coast, so better follow the coastal Tourist Drive. At Picknick Point in  Mimosa Rocks N.P., you will find sand beaches between rugged volcanic rocks. Keep at the eastern rim of Wapango Lake to get the spot; you will have to open some road gates to reach it.
