River in Southwest NSW

The hinterland of southern NSW is huge and contains almost every type of landscape, from dry plains and waterless lakes to deep forests and high snow-capped mountains. Canberra is the only large city in this region, and is, as Australian Capital Territory, a separate entity, not part of NSW.

The highest mountain of Australia, Mount Kosciuszko, lies in the area, in the Australian alps and the Kosciuszko National Park. Unluckily, when visiting the area, the park was closed due to high fire danger, thus there are no images available to the author at the moment (hope to change that soon).
