Goulburn is a typical farming town on Highway 31 ("Hume Highway") from Sydney to Canberra. Actually, today the highway bypasses the town, but it is still valuable to visit it, to see its Big Merino, a rather large sheep with a museum inside. The museum is quite worth a stop. These days, the Goulburn area is one of the most drought-stricken parts of Australia, and the farmers there just barely hang on, if they have not yet given up.
