Trial Bay detention camp

During the First World War, Trial Bay Gaol in the Arakoon State Conservation Area was used as a detainee camp for men of German or Austrian descent. The prison building, which is quite well preserved, can be visited today and contains a small museum with documents and possessions of the prisoners, including a hand made model of a WWI war plane.
