If you look at maps of South Australia, you will discover tremendously large inland lakes like Lake Eyre (potentially the largest lake of Australia), Lake Torrens or Lake Gairdner. Of course, you will probably know that they are salt lakes which fill with water only on rare occasions. Above, a nameless lake on the Stuart Hwy,  near the desert town of Woomera, famous or infamous for its weapons test facilities and former immigrant detention centre.
