From Perth, it does not take very long to reach the countryside or the sea - the plains between the Indian Ocean and the Darling Range are only about 20 to 25km wide. Not far from the coast lies Rottnest Island, which can be reached by ferry from Fremantle or Perth. Thanks to strict management, the island is not overdeveloped and has many quiet beaches and much open land. On the land side, the Darling Range invites you to a round tour over Kalamunda, Mundaring Weir and the John Forrest National Park, through beautiful West Australian forests, like above.
