Driving in the dark in the Pilbara region (as in most regions in Australia) is quite dangerous - if you hit a wallaby with your car, the wallaby is dead, but if you hit a cow, then you are beef, too. We tried to reach a certain rest point in the evening, but had to slow down to about 10 - 20 km/h when it got dark.

But even during the day, you can have nasty surprises with these animals. So drive carefully and avoid night driving!
