About 70% of South Australia's population live in the Adelaide area. The second largest population centre is in the south, at the border to Victoria. But the contrast is high - the second largest city of SA, Mount Gambier, has a population of only 32'000. The volcanic past of the region is one of the reasons for its successful agriculture.
