Spiky Bridge, Swansea

The Spiky Bridge near the small town of Swansea lies not far away from Freycinet Peninsula, on the western side of Great Oyster Bay. It was built by convict labour in 1843. No one really knows the reason for the spikes, or for the strange architecture of the bridge itself. It was suggested the spikes were to prevent cattle from falling down from the bridge.
