Cook Memorial at Botany Bay

Located in Botany Bay National Park, this monument marks the place where, on April 29, 1770, James Cook landed  the first time on the Australian mainland.  It is located in the southern part of the park, not far from the entrance on Captain Cook drive. The spot is often visited by Sydneysiders, but more to enjoy a picknick than to honour Captain Cook.
