The most famous attractions of Townsville are concentrated in the building shown above, on the northern bank of Ross Creek. Reef HQ is a large tropical aquarium with a Coral Reef exhibit and a walk through shark aquarium. The Museum of Tropical Queensland focusses on the history and present of the region and exhibits artefacts from a British warship, the HMS Pandora, sunk in 1791. In the same building, there is also the Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre with the official abbreviation "TATSSICC" - try to pronounce it as a word (or two) and then start to wonder... Nevertheless, worth a visit!
