Mansfield is a small country town, but also a center for tourism into the Mt. Buller region. It is one of the towns linked to the story of Ned Kelly, a bushranger (i.e. an outlaw) who has become an Australian icon. Above the memorial for three policemen killed by him, which was unveiled only 1 month after Kelly himself was executed, in December 1880.
