Mount Buffalo is an extended high plateau with alpine plants and scenic rock formations, like above on the cliff edge. It is protected by the Mount Buffalo National Park. An excellent day excursion, with walks to the Monolith or The Horn. Unluckily, large parts have been destroyed by a bushfire in December 2006, and the historic Mount Buffalo Chalet has been closed. But most of the walks are still accessible - check the National Park website for details
