Wilsons Promontory, often shortened to "The Prom", is the southernmost point of mainland Australia. The mountaineous peninsula is connected to the mainland by a wide, but quite flat plain and is protected by the Wilsons Promontory National Park. Large groups of Eastern Grey Kangaroos and Emus can be observed. Worthwhile is also the climb to the top of Mount Oberon (above), and the delightful "Squeaky Beach", which very fine sand squeaking under your feet.
