The southernmost and smallest state on the Australian mainland, Victoria has the highest diversity of landscapes. Alpine areas with skiing towns like Mount Hotham, the agricultural area of the Murray River near Albury ("A") on the border to NSW in the north, the central area, famous for its gold digger towns like Bendigo or Ballarat ("B"), and especially the coast with Wilson's Promontory N.P. in the south and the Great Ocean Road (above two of the famous Twelve Apostles) in the west are all great tourist attractions.
Most of them are easily reachable from Victoria's capital, Melbourne ("M"), the second largest city of Australia, and its metropolitan area surrounding the huge bay of Port Phillip
