The escarpment east of Perth is called Darling Scarp (or, incorrectly, Darling Ranges - it is no mountain range, but the rim of a high plateau). Kalamunda is one of the suburbs of Perth extending over the escarpments, and a very peaceful and beautiful town. From some points, you have a great view over the coastal plains, like above with downtown Perth. Kalamunda National Park offers great bushwalking; the town is also the starting point of the Bibbulmun Track, a long-distance walking track, 963 km long, to Albany on the south coast of WA.
